How to use this fantasy name generator

How fantasy names are built

Every race in this generator has its own syllable banks: a set of opening syllables, middle syllables and ending syllables tuned to how that race is usually portrayed in fantasy. Elven names use soft, flowing syllables (ael-, -riel, syl-), orcish names use harsh, blunt ones (grok-, -mash, urz-), dwarven names favor heavy consonants, draconic names stretch long and grand, and dark names lean shadowy and sharp.

Each name is assembled from two or three syllables — opening + ending, or opening + middle + ending — with gender-specific endings layered on top (for example -ion and -or for male names, -a and -iel for female names). The generator then filters out hard-to-read combinations: tripled letters, awkward consonant clusters and results that are too short or too long. All names in a batch are unique, and Generate more never repeats a name you have already seen.
